La Jolla Shores - Pool Attendant

SUMMARY

The Hotel Pool Attendant maintains the cleanliness and safety of the pool area, assists guests with requests, enforces pool rules, and provides excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet and assist guests at the pool area, providing towels and seating arrangements.
  • Monitor pool activities to ensure guest safety and enforce pool rules.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the pool, deck, lounge chairs, and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure that pool towels are stocked and properly distributed.
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining poolside furniture, umbrellas, and cabanas.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries and requests, offering friendly and professional service.
  • Monitor and report any maintenance or safety hazards to management (e.g., broken chairs, slippery floors, pool chemical issues).
  • Assist in managing pool supplies and replenishing as needed.
  • Follow hotel policies and safety regulations to ensure a pleasant environment for guests.
  • Other Duties may be assigned.

OUTCOME

The Pool Service Attendant has a great impact on how pool guests and patrons perceive their pool-side experience. A genuinely friendly, attentive, knowledgeable attendant can help ensure that the guest is satisfied with his/her pool experience and is eager to return.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The education and/or experience needed include a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) (unless attending high school); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must have the ability to communicate fluently in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

INTERACTION

Employees in this position interact daily with managers, supervisors, service and kitchen personnel, and customers. Employees may also interact regularly with other department personnel.

SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated, as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
